Maternity B.V.M. Announces The Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Award
Maternity B.V.M. School announces the names of the Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Award. Congratulations to Adam Knuttel, Colin McNicholas and Amanda Sweeney on receiving this four-year scholarships to the Archdiocesan High School of their choice. Both boys are going to Father Judge High School, while Amanda will spend her next four years at Little Flower. The Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Awards are designed to recognize eighth grade students who strive to realize their full academic and human potential, who demonstrate the morals and values of a good Catholic education, and who have a strong desire to attend an Archdiocesan high school.
“Choosing the Connelly Award is always a difficult time for those on the committee. We are lucky to have many deserving students at Maternity B.V.M. School; however we are only given 3 scholarships. It was through much prayer and discussion that the three were chosen. I am confident they will utilize all the benefits that the Connelly Foundation provides,” said Mary Zawisza, Maternity B.V.M. principal.
The Connelly Foundation offers four-year grants to every parish/regional school, in the Philadelphia-North and Philadelphia-South. The foundation offers grants at 40% of parental tuition to students who attend any Archdiocesan high school.
Adam, Colin and Amanda have attended Maternity since Pre-School and now look forward to the adventure of High School. “The three 8th graders are very special students. They are class leaders and high academic achievers,” said eighth grade teacher Mrs. McDonough.
